Rabbi Chaim Harkavy spent his youth in Manhattan and Northern Jersey developing his life-long passions: camping, canoeing and hiking; writing; and teaching. In addition to rabbinic ordination, he holds a B.A. in both English and History from Wesleyan University and an M.A. in History from Brandeis University. At Brandeis, he met his beloved wife, Adina, with whom he has enjoyed 22 years of marriage and shared the blessings of nine wonderful children. He is the founder and executive director of MEOR Upstate and serves as a Senior Educator.
Mrs. Adina Harkavy was born and raised in Connecticut, where she was very involved with her synagogue, religious school and USY. She holds a B.A. in Near Eastern & Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. She is a loving wife and mother of nine, who enjoys reading, baking and crafts. She is the Administrator and Director of Women’s Programming of MEOR Upstate.
The Harkavys are honored and humbled to have enriched the lives of countless college students over the past 15 years. Rabbi Harkavy teaches Maimonides seminars and staffs MEOR trips. Mrs. Harkavy runs programs for women. Together, they welcome students into their Binghamton and Scranton homes throughout the year, and staff Sinai Retreats in the Adirondacks during the summer.

Cornell University, Class of 2011
Rabbi Harkavy and his wife, Adina, made me such a part of their wonderful family. They are so nice and easy-going and their kids are precious. College would not be the same without them!
Binghamton University, Class of 2014
My college life would not have been the same without the direct influence of MEOR. I’ve been lucky enough to take several classes, be rewarded internships both in NYC and in Washington DC, and travel to Israel as a direct result of my involvement with MEOR at Binghamton.
